W.D.C. Successes of 2022
In just ONE YEAR, among other things, the Women's Defense Coalition of Delaware has been able to
1) Provide extensive training to approximately 100 women at no cost or at cost.
2) Speak on behalf of the 2A community against restrictive gun bills and effectively stopping all gun-control bills the first half of the session.
3) Work together with the DSSA to raise awareness and funds to fight unconstitutional gun-control bills in court.
4) Provide expert testimony during committee hearings on the impacts HB 450, HB 451, and SB 6 would have on law abiding citizens.
5) Advocate for thousands of Delaware women and their safety, pointing out some major flaws and cracks in the current systems that enable abusers to harm their victims while also bringing forth solutions.
6) Attend the Educational Forum held at Legislative Hall where we were able to breach the topic of school safety with lawmakers, educators, school administrators, and community stakeholders.
7) Be an integral part of the Human and Sex Trafficking Seminar held at Legislative Hall and organized by Sara Poore, our WDC Board Secretary, which included the FBI, local & national law enforcement agencies, DOC, DOL, DOJ, multiple anti-trafficking agencies, organizations, and victim advocates from across the nation.
8) Connect with 2022 political candidates to determine their stance on 2A and provide the public with easy access to a pro 2A candidate listing on our website.
9) Hold our first Annual Women's Self-Defense Expo which incorporated 5 different stations with each station building on the others and integrating 11 different instructors from four different training agencies. Station 1 taught home defense and how to build your “safe room.” Station 2 focused on situational awareness, action vs reaction, and respecting the speed & fluidity of an attack. Stations 3, 4, & 5 were all hands on stations that encompassed active shooter training, parking lot scenarios, and physical combatives where participants were able to physically act out some of the most common threat scenarios we see happening in homes, businesses, and public spaces. All of the stations laid heavy emphasis on the power of using your voice and body language to deter or stop a threat.
10) Collect, interpret and disseminate accurate information to the public regarding current Delaware code, pending legislation, passed legislation, the impacts of these laws on the lawful and the lack of impact on the unlawful citizens.
11) Form relationships with instructors up and down that state that would provide discounts to WDC members for self-defense training of all disciplines. We understand and respect a woman’s choice in deciding the type of protection she feels most comfortable with, but, each requires training and education on why/when it works, the legalities, and how to use it safely & effectively.
12) Form a relationship with Buying Time K9 in efforts to connect women with a reputable source for purchasing working dogs that suit the needs of each individual. Working dogs can be trained as therapy animals for trauma impacted survivors of violence, personal protection, scent detection for those who have children with autism, elderly parents with dementia, or who are a flight risk due to some other disability or disease. Buying Time K9’s experience in training K9’s for law enforcement is invaluable when it comes to peace of mind, knowing your money is well spent.
13) Continue the necessary process with the IRS to finalize our 501 (c) 4 status as a non-profit corporation.
14) Ran booths at multiple events to muster support, ensure continued outreach and growth, and raise awareness for women’s safety. In the event pictured, the WDC booth sold t-shirts we designed for the DSSA to raise funds for filing lawsuits against recently passed unconstitutional gun-control laws. WE SOLD OUT!
15) Gain the recognition of the DSSA & NRA. The women of WDC were honorably mentioned by the former National NRA President, Mr. Sigler, for our outstanding efforts and achievements accomplished during the DSSA Freedom Banquet.
“It wouldn’t have and won’t be possible to keep our rights without the Women from the Women’s Defense Coalition,” Mr. Sigler reiterated twice.
16) Participate in a story with Delaware Online/The News Journal’s, Anitra Johnson, on the Women’s Defense Coalition’s mission statement and the WHY behind training in a survivors mindset.
17) Organize and host National Train A Teacher Day at Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Club. Teachers were educated in situational awareness, various defense techniques, and firearm safety.

18) Our next and last event for 2022 will be our 2nd Annual Winter Gala which will be held, again, at Wild Quail Golf & Country Club on December 3rd, 2022 from 6 to 10 pm.
Last year’s 1st Annual Winter Gala was a huge success. The first of its kind women’s concealed carry fashion show was just one way to show that women in all professions, in any attire, and in motherhood can carry safely & effectively.
DJ Lucky Delaware was a big hit with attendees and will be back again this year!
Our top sponsor at the Platinum Level was Delaware Tactical. Following closely at the Gold Level were Chick’s Saddlery, Beideman’s Cerakote & Graphics, ABI Security Group, Chance’s Firearms, Federal Firearm, and State Trading LLC.
Their monetary contributions along with the items and/or services they donated for our raffle and silent auction left attendees pleased with their winnings!
The success of last year’s Winter Gala has allowed us to accomplish everything listed above plus some! As an Organization run 100% by volunteers we can ensure all proceeds are being directed right back into the community we represent.
Join us again in celebrating success & raising funds this year by attending, sponsoring, donating, or volunteering!
Below are the Levels Of Sponsorship for 2022! Gold & Diamond Sponsors are provided with many benefits, including 2 complimentary tickets to the 2nd Annual Winter Gala.
